xhypertensionx writes "According to this article on ZDNet, the FreeBSD "ports system" has been moved to Darwin. According to Michael Love, leader of the GNU-Darwin project, 'over 2,000 software programs have been created for Mac OS X [through this process].'" This particular system is a bit difficlut to understand (at least for neophytes like myself) it appears as though it is a "good thing". Moving software from BSD to Darwin means more killer low-level applications, which means more uses for Mac OS X in IT centers at businesses and campuses alike.
